How a pouch packing machine works
The machine moves each ready-made pouch through a few stations. It opens, fills and seals the pouch in one cycle.
- 1
Pouch is picked
Grippers pick an empty pouch from the magazine and carry it into the machine.
- 2
Pouch is coded and held
The pouch is printed with batch and date, and the grippers hold it firmly.
- 3
Pouch is opened
Air or suction opens the pouch, and the zipper is opened if the pouch has one.
- 4
Product is filled
A weigher or filler drops the right quantity into the open pouch.
- 5
Pouch is sealed
The top is sealed, then the finished pouch is released onto the conveyor.
Pouch types you can use
Pick the pouch that fits your product and brand. Supported types and sizes depend on the model, so tell us what you need.
Stand-up pouch
Stands upright on the shelf and gives your product a premium look. A popular choice for snacks, spices and grains.
Zipper pouch
A reclosable zipper keeps the product fresh after opening. Suits dry fruits, spices, pulses and snacks.
Flat pouch
A simple three-side seal pouch for lighter packs, powders and small portions.
Spouted pouch
A pouch with a pour spout for liquids and sauces, on selected machines. Ask us if you need it.
What you can pack
The machine stays the same. The filling unit changes to suit your product.
Snacks and dry fruits
Namkeen, chips, nuts and dry fruits in stand-up or zipper pouches.
Spices and powders
Spices, masala, flour and besan with an auger filler and dust control.
Grains and pulses
Rice, pulses, sugar and salt in premium pouches for retail.
Liquids and sauces
Oils, sauces and pastes with a liquid filler and a spouted or flat pouch.
Pouch packing or VFFS?
Both machines pack the same kinds of products, but they suit different goals.
| Pouch packing machine | VFFS machine | |
|---|---|---|
| Pouch | Ready-made pouch, loaded into a magazine | Formed from a film roll during packing |
| Look | Premium: stand-up, zipper, spout | Pillow, gusseted or quad-seal |
| Cost per pack | Pouch costs more than film | Film on a roll costs less |
| Best for | Retail brands, premium and reclosable packs | High volume, low cost per pack |
| Changing pack size | Adjust the grippers | Change the forming tube |

Pouch packing machine questions
What is a pouch packing machine?
It fills and seals ready-made pouches. The machine picks up an empty pouch, opens it, fills it with product and seals it. It is commonly used for stand-up, zipper and flat pouches.
What types of pouches can it use?
Stand-up (doypack) pouches, zipper pouches and flat three-side seal pouches are the common choices. The pouch types and sizes a machine can handle depend on the model, so share your pouch details with us.
How is it different from a VFFS machine?
A VFFS machine forms the pouch from a film roll as it packs. A pouch packing machine uses pouches that are already made. This gives a premium look and features such as zippers, and the pouches usually cost more than film on a roll.
Which products can I pack?
Snacks, dry fruits, spices, flour, grains, pulses, and liquids or sauces. The filling unit changes with the product: a multihead weigher for snacks, an auger filler for powders, a cup or linear weigher for grains, and a liquid filler for liquids.
Can the machine change between pouch sizes?
Yes. Most machines allow you to adjust for different pouch widths. Tell us the sizes you plan to use so that we can pick a machine that covers your range.
Can it print batch number and date?
Yes. A coding unit can be fitted so every pouch carries the batch number, date and price.
Do you install and train?
Yes. We install and test the machine with your product and pouches, train your operators, supply genuine spares and offer service and AMC.
