How a VFFS machine works
The pack is formed, filled and sealed in a single vertical flow, so there is no separate bagging step.
- 1
Film unwinds
Packaging film is drawn from the roll and guided over the forming shoulder.
- 2
Tube is formed
The film wraps around the forming tube, and a vertical seal joins the edge.
- 3
Product drops in
The weigher or filler releases the exact quantity through the tube into the pack.
- 4
Pack is sealed and cut
Horizontal jaws seal the top of this pack and the bottom of the next, then cut between them.
- 5
Finished pack exits
The sealed pack drops onto the conveyor, ready for coding, checking and boxing.
Pack styles you can make
Pick the pack that fits your product and shelf. Available styles depend on the model, so tell us what you need.
Pillow pack
The standard, economical pack with a fin seal at the back and seals at top and bottom. Suits snacks, namkeen, spices and powders.
Gusseted pack
Side folds give the pack more volume and a neater shelf look. Suits larger packs of rice, pulses, flour and sugar.
Quad-seal pack
Four corner seals give a firm, boxy pack with a premium look for retail shelves.
Flat-bottom pack
A pack that stands upright, available on selected models. Ask us if standing packs matter for your brand.
The right filler for your product
The VFFS machine forms and seals the pack. The filler decides how accurately your product is measured. We match the two.
| You pack | Recommended filling unit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Snacks, namkeen, puffed items | Multihead weigher | Fragile, free-flowing, needs accurate weight |
| Spices, masala, flour, besan | Auger filler | Fine powders, with dust control |
| Rice, pulses, grains, sugar, salt | Volumetric cup filler or linear weigher | Granules and small particles |
| Liquids, oils, sauces, pastes | Liquid or piston filler | Pouch packs of liquids and thick products |

VFFS machine questions
What is a VFFS machine?
A vertical form fill seal machine makes the pack, fills it and seals it in one continuous process. It pulls flat packaging film from a roll, forms it into a tube, fills the product from above and seals the pack at the top and bottom.
Which products can a VFFS machine pack?
Snacks and namkeen, spices and masala, flour and besan, rice, pulses and grains, sugar and salt, and liquids or pastes in pouches. The machine stays the same; the filling unit changes to suit the product.
How do I choose the right filler?
It depends on the product. Free-flowing, fragile snacks suit a multihead weigher. Powders suit an auger filler. Grains and granules suit a volumetric cup or linear weigher. Liquids and pastes suit a liquid or piston filler. Tell us what you pack and we will recommend one.
What pack sizes and speeds can I get?
Pack size and output depend on the model, the product and the film. Share your target pack weight and daily output, and we will suggest a machine that fits.
What packaging film do I need?
VFFS machines use laminated or single-layer film on a roll, such as polyester or metallised laminates and polyethylene for many food products. The right film depends on shelf life and product. We can guide you on this.
Do you install the machine and train my staff?
Yes. Our team installs and tests the machine at your plant and trains your operators. We also supply genuine spares and offer service and AMC.
Can the machine print batch number and date?
Yes. A coding or marking unit can be added so that batch number, date and price are printed on every pack.
